Eligibility conditions

What you'll do

Sow a cover crop of at least 2 species from 2 or more plant families (e.g. brassicas, legumes, cereals/grasses, herbs) that you won't harvest, early enough — usually late summer or early autumn — to be well established and protect the soil over winter. Don't apply fertiliser or manure to it, and don't destroy it before winter ends, except up to 6 weeks before drilling an early-sown spring crop.
