Assess and record hedgerow condition
£5 per 100m (one side), per year
Runs for 3 years.
A static action — it stays in the same place each year.
Where it applies
Boundary
A boundary action — it's paid on the parcel's boundary features, not its area.
Eligibility conditions
- Hedgerow must be over 20m long and less than 10m wide
- Gaps must each be no more than 20m and total no more than 10% of the hedgerow's length (or be planted up during the 3 years)
- Enter only the side(s) you have management control of; both sides of a roadside or neighbour-boundary hedge need a legal right or duty to maintain it
What you'll do
Assess the condition of every hedgerow entered into this action and write it down — a written condition assessment record, on paper or digital. Complete it within 12 months of the action's start, then review the hedges and update the record in each following year. If you've already assessed these hedges and produced a written record in the last 5 years, you can use that to get paid for this action.
Evidence to keep
- The written hedgerow condition assessment record itself (paper or digital) — the one record this action requires; supply it if the RPA asks
